Spectrum Photographic teams up with Pussy Riot

A breakthrough immersive theatre project will tell the story of punk band Pussy Riot later this year.

Pussy Riot has teamed up with award-winning theatre company Les Enfants Terribles to produce Inside Pussy Riot, opening in London this November.

Supporters of the band raised more than £64,000 through a Kickstarter campaign – smashing through the original £60,000 target.

Spectrum Photographic printed a series of limited edition prints to support the campaign.

Recreating the experience

Inside Pussy Riot gives audience members the chance to be at the heart of their own punk protest.

“This wild theatrical experience will allow the audience to become a participant, experiencing exactly what Pussy Riot went through during our imprisonment – from the original Church performance, to the court trial and prison cells,” said Nadya from the band.

“We’re going to recreate Russian courtrooms, a real Russian labour colony, solitary confinement cells, priests who shout about banning abortions and many more absurd, but real-life things that exist in Russia today.

“The audience will actually get the chance to relive each one of these experiences themselves, learning what it means to be a political opponent in Russia today.

“We’ll take you on a journey from the cathedral altar deep into the vaults of the Kremlin itself.

“Hopefully, this is a journey that you’ll only have to make once in your life.”

Inside Pussy Riot

Inside Pussy Riot is on from November 14 to December 24 at The Saatchi Gallery, London.

It is a collaboration with Les Enfants Terribles, creators of Olivier-nominated Alice’s Adventures Underground.

The show will coincide with the Saatchi Gallery’s Art Riot exhibition to mark the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution.

Tickets are on sale now at www.insidepussyriot.com.

Pussy Riot will also be performing their Riot Days show at The Haunt, Brighton, on Sunday, November 19.
