MOUNTING
What is a Seal?A seal is a protective film that is applied to your print, helping to minimise damage to your print from scuffing, UV rays and fingerprints.
To seal or not to seal?Having a seal over your print used to be standard in a gallery exhibition, allowing the print to be carefully cleaned with a damp lint free cloth, and protecting the image from scuffing and harmful UV rays which will damage and fade your print over time. This however has changed in the last few years, with both galleries and artists realising there are both pros and cons to having your print sealed. We offer two different seals, but don't necessarily recommend them. Matt SealOur most popular seal, this is a durable PVC lamination film. Very matt anti-reflective surface, does knock blacks slightly. Gloss SealBetter clarity than the matt seal, but the high gloss surface highlights the slight wavering surface texture of all mounting substrates, although this is not a problem with Aluminium. The very glossy surface is even more prone to surface scratching than a gloss print. |
