Two special events are set to showcase FotoDocument’s latest project, Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Worldwide.
The Oxo Tower Gallery, London, will host an exhibition of images from February 28 to March 11.
Brighton Museum will host a screening and discussion of the project on March 3.
Showcasing documentary photographers
In celebration of International Women’s Day 2018 arts social enterprise FotoDocument is launching a photography exhibition at Oxo Tower Gallery.
The exhibition focuses on FotoDocument’s most recent project, Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Worldwide.
It will showcase the work of global documentary photographers commissioned to capture the work of CARE International UK’s micro-lending platform, Lendwithcare.org.
The photo essays feature inspiring women from five of the countries where Lendwithcare operates.
They include Ecuador, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, the Philippines and Zambia, visually illustrating how microfinance can provide lasting social and economic impact and change.
Commissioned photographers include Shaista Chishty, Ana Caroline de Lima, Cynthia Matonhodze, Tsvangirayi Mukwazhi and Veejay Villafranca.
This exhibition forms part of CARE’s wider #March4Women campaign. A month of action for gender equality, including the annual March in London on Sunday, March 4.

Photography talks and screening
Brighton will host a special one-day Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Worldwide event on March 3.
The screening of commissioned work and discussion will be held at Brighton Museum.
The event is part of the wider Brighton International Women’s Day 2018 programme in association with Brighton Women’s Centre, Brighton Museum and Brighton Dome & Festival.
At the event, FotoDocument will also launch Year 2 of the Marilyn Stafford FotoReportage Award for women documentary photographers, supported by Olympus.
Speakers include: Shai Chishty (commissioned photographer), Rebecca Conway (Year 1 Award Winner), Nina Emett (FotoDocument), Jo Godden (RubyMoon) and Tracey Horner (Lendwithcare).
Marilyn Stafford will join the panel discussion after the presentations chaired by Jim Stephenson from MiniClick.
