Here is an image from my performance 'Spider Woman' (2018) documented by photographer @yuichironoda. In this work I trace my movements by weaving a web around my body with red ribbon that simultaneously scars the image. This action is similar to how spiders weave their webs to catch their prey but in this case the prey is myself.
@hollie___miller is a performance artist working a @hollie___miller is a performance artist working across live and recorded contexts (performance, moving image, photography and sculpture). She uses her own body as a visceral material to reclaim the sensual to overcome normalized violence on women’s bodies. Through the female command of space she explores ideas around female ascension, metamorphosis and rebirth. Often embodying minor gestures to burrow into the subconscious in search of the personal, political and poetic.
