For photography graduates, their final degree show is an excellent opportunity to make their mark on the art world, but the work doesn’t stop there… Make sure you make the most of this upcoming bank holiday by entering some photography competitions. Competitions are another great opportunity to get your work seen by industry professionals and key events/places. Here’s a selection of competitions cherry picked by us for those soon to be photography graduates!
5 UNDER 30
Open to all photographers aged 29 and under, there are no restrictions on artist nationality/residency. However, photographers must be able to physically bring their work to the gallery in order to apply.
Deadline: Must delivery work between 26th May- 2nd June, 11 am – 6 pm.
Solo Award 2015
Open to contemporary UK based artists of any age, working in any medium. The winner receives a prominent SOLO exhibition, £1000 prize money and national exposure.
Deadline: 31st May
FloatArt London 2015 is an exhibition opportunity for BA and MA graduates to showcase their degree show work at Bargehouse, South Bank, London. Exhibitors will also be eligible for the FloatArt prize which is decided by public vote. The winner of the prize receives £3,000 and a solo exhibition.
Deadline: 6th July
Debut Award 2015
Debut Award is open to BA & MA graduates to have their final degree work judged by a panel of influential photographic experts. The winner will be selected on the body of work received through Spectrum Photographic’s online ordering service, alongside a project statement. The winner will receive £500 in prize money and an opportunity to have their work featured in Photoworks.
Deadline: 30th June
Open to emerging photographers, ten finalists will be selected to exhibit at prominent gallery space Charlie Smith London. A winner will selected to receive a £2,000 cash prize.
Deadline: 15th June
South West Graduate Photography Prize
Open to all graduating photography students from the South West region. Six emerging artists will be short listed to exhibit in London during PHOTOBLOCK 2015. A winner will be selected to work on a residency with Fotonow CIC.
